Our Pillars
The Program Pillars of Grambling Alumni SoCal Chapter are:

The Gram Fam SoCal Scholarship Fund:
An annual goal of $50,000 or more to assist potential
Grambling State University students with their goal to get a college degree from an HBCU.
The Gram Fam Annual Fundraiser Gala & Celebrity Golf Classic: An annual Black Tie Affair,
geared toward fundraising for the nonprofit’s operational funding, to continue our community pro-
gramming for HBCU awareness.

The Gram Fam Comedy & Movie Night HBCU Awareness Events:
Our social events and engagement help us spread the awareness about Grambling State University and its historically rich history!

We get to engage with potential students and their families and participate in fun activities that also
allow us to give information about applying to the university and the social activities available to
potential students. We love being part of the actual measured recruitment of our university and en-
courage others to become part of the local and national alumni chapters to assist as volunteers and key
players in the continued strength of our dear school.
The Gram Fam SoCal Civics Education Initiative:
With the past three years of a global pandemic and tons of social unrest that both have had a huge impact on the local, national and global populations, we encourage our students, their families and the Grambling Alumni in general to get more involved in the civics of their home areas. This is an area that has been lost in direct education efforts and we want to empower our potential Grambling State students to be fully aware of the power of their vote, the power of civic and social action, and the power of having a collective voice when it
comes to education, healthcare, and the state and local policies that affect their neighborhoods and
communities. That being said, we are making very specific choices as an organization, to be in the
forefront of Civics Education: helping expand the electorate through voter education, helping train
future VDR’s [Voter Deputy Registrars] who help youth understand the power of their vote in a
democratic society, and how that personal empowerment can lead to group empowerment and
effective social change.
